The Pediatric First Aid program provides essential skills and knowledge to address the unique emergency care needs of infants and children. The course emphasizes injury prevention, emergency response, and managing medical conditions like asthma and diabetes. Participants also learn to handle common childhood injuries and recognize signs of abuse or neglect.

Course Content

The National Safety Council Pediatric First Aid program covers the latest techniques for emergency care and practical safety tips for preventing injuries to infants and children. This program is particularly designed to meet the special needs of infants and children with special consideration for medical conditions such as asthma and diabetes. Participants are thought to deal with common injuries such as head bumps, tooth loss and objects lodged in the ears or nose.

  • Breathing and Cardiac Emergencies

  • Childhood illness such as whooping cough, chickenpox, conjunctivitis and head lice

  • Children with disabilities

  • Dealing with signs of abuse and neglect
